How We Met:
Lauren and Nick found me through a recommendation and knew they wanted something unique—a ceremony full of love, laughter, and meaning, but with a personal, light-hearted twist. With a deep connection to animals and a shared sense of humour, this couple wanted their story told in full colour.
The Ceremony:
Their 1950s-themed wedding was one to remember! From the outfits to the music, every detail reflected their vibrant personalities. We began with a warm, witty welcome, setting the tone for an unplugged ceremony where guests were fully present (and dressed to impress!).
The ceremony struck a perfect balance between heartfelt and hilarious.
Entrance music included “What a Difference a Day Makes” and “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” for the groomsmen—playful, nostalgic, and joyful.
Tributes to Loved Ones: Lauren read a letter from her late mum that left barely a dry eye, and Nick shared marriage advice from his beloved grandad Cyril—wise, witty, and timeless.
Furry Friends: Their pets—Cosworth (aka Pooh) and Diago the Degu—were acknowledged with love (even if they couldn’t be there in person).
Handfasting Ceremony: A Scottish nod to their roots and Edinburgh memories, complete with cords chosen by Lauren and presented by Nick’s mum.
We wove their zookeeper beginnings into the narrative—how they met at Combe Martin Wildlife Park, their long-distance love, and Nick’s memorable proposal in a freezing garden at Edinburgh Castle.
Personal Touches:
From Lauren’s love of Tarzan (not Prince Charming!) to their shared obsession with penguins—right down to the vows where they promised to be each other's “Personal Penguin”—this ceremony overflowed with individuality.
Two beautiful readings were delivered by friends Claire and Pat, including a moving piece by Tyler Kent White and a heartwarming children’s story that perfectly captured their playful spirit.
Their vows were personal, sincere, and utterly “them.”
“Lauren, today I promise that though the world may change, and though we may change with it, I will always love you…”
“Nick, you are my best friend and the love of my life. From today, our life becomes one together.”
In Their Words:
“We didn’t want a cookie-cutter wedding. Louise helped us create something so meaningful and full of joy. She got us. Our humour, our love story, everything felt real and just like us. We’re still getting compliments on the ceremony months later!”
